The IK rating is indicated by IK and a number from 00 to 10, which shows the degree of protection an electrical enclosure has against external mechanical impact.
IK ratings (or impact protection classes) are now an international standard for enclosures surrounding electrical equipment. They were originally defined in 1995 by the European standard BS EN 50102, then revised in 1997 by IEC 60068-2-75. Subsequently, in 2002, the European standard EN62262 was introduced, which is equivalent to the international standard IEC 62262 (2002).
Where are IK-grade onboard panel pc devices used?
Computers with high IK ratings are often used in locations where the equipment is subject to damage or high impact. For example, vehicle mounted computer equipment and rugged computers are often used in industrial locations, manufacturing plants, warehouses, public access areas, etc.
IK-rated vehicle computer devices are extremely important because they may be installed on vehicles such as forklifts and heavy trucks, traveling on uneven roads, over bumps and subject to strong mechanical vibrations. ·IK03 - Protection against 0.35 Joules (equivalent to a 0.2kg drop from 140mm above the impact surface).
·IK04 - Protection against 0.5 joules (equivalent to a 0.25kg drop from 200mm above the impact surface).
·IK05 - Protection against 0.7 joules (equivalent to a 0.25kg drop from 280mm above the impact surface).
·IK06 - Protection against 1 joule (equivalent to a 0.25kg drop from 400mm above the impact surface).
·IK07 - Protection against 2 joules (equivalent to a 0.5kg drop from 400mm above the impact surface).
·IK08 - Protection against 5 joules (equivalent to a 1.7kg drop from 300mm above the impact surface).
·IK09 - Protection against 10 joules of impact (equivalent to a 5kg drop from 200mm above the impact surface).
·IK10 - Protection against 20 joules of impact (equivalent to a 5kg drop from 400mm above the impact surface).
For office use panel pc or monitor, normally IK06-IK07 is enough, for industrial use, normally IK07 is enough,
